About the Role
This position provides accurate and timely information to visitors and callers while supporting providers with both administrative and clinical office procedures across multiple rural health clinics.
Responsibilities
- Pre-certify with insurance companies
- Maintain records in the Electronic Medical Record system
- Process patient specimens
- Assist providers with office procedures
- Handle billing and coding
- Take and record vital signs
- Document medical histories
- Prepare patients for exams
- Draw blood and administer medications
- Authorize drug refills
- Change wound dressings
- Clean and sterilize instruments
- Schedule patient tests or admissions
- Explain treatment procedures and instructions to patients
- Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies
- Collect co-pays and record transactions
- Operate diagnostic test equipment
- Perform general office duties including answering phones
- Perform routine laboratory tests
- Prepare treatment rooms
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid certification within 60 days
- Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter certification within 180 days
- Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter certification within 180 days
