About the Role
The Technical Account Manager is the primary commercial and technical relationship for the existing customer base, owning revenue expansion by understanding customer needs and driving deeper API utilization. This is a revenue-focused role, not a support function.
Responsibilities
- Own revenue expansion for the existing customer base, with net revenue retention as the primary metric.
- Drive multi-location growth by expanding customer footprints.
- Identify and close upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Serve as the primary technical relationship for accounts, managing customer interactions for technical issues and integration planning.
- Surface and resolve expansion-blocking issues to prevent churn.
- Manage a named account portfolio, understanding customer integrations, business models, and growth plans.
- Run regular business reviews to discuss usage, expansion opportunities, and roadmap alignment.
- Build and execute expansion plans by account, tracking current and potential ARR.
- Work closely with Engineering and Solutions Engineering on complex technical questions and architectural guidance.
- Coordinate handoffs with the sales team for new opportunities within existing accounts.
- Keep the CRM current and the forecast accurate, reporting on expansion pipeline, renewal risk, and account health.
Requirements
- 4+ years in a technical account management, customer success, or solutions engineering role at a SaaS or API-first company.
- Demonstrated ownership of expansion revenue.
- A track record of growing accounts, not just renewing them.
- Clear understanding of what drove NRR in prior roles and how it was contributed to.
- Technical fluency with APIs and developer workflows.
- Experience navigating multi-stakeholder accounts.
- Commercial orientation focused on growing relationships.
- CRM discipline and comfort with data, including building credible expansion forecasts.
- Prior experience in health-tech, developer tools, or API platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR/PMS systems, clinical workflows, or Revenue Cycle Management is a plus.
- Experience in a customer-facing role at a company building its GTM function is a plus.
