About the Role
Advise the international business on day-to-day digital and technology matters, delivering the highest standards of legal advice and regulatory compliance while supporting international growth. The role encompasses legal support for global digital and technology teams, including product, engineering, data science, performance marketing, and outsourcing. Responsibilities include negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, advising on AI implementation, and assisting with broader legal matters. You will also support the legal team in developing effective working processes with the business to achieve objectives within appropriate timescales.
Responsibilities
- Advising on legal affairs relating to digital and technology, including AI, with supervision from the Director of Legal
- Supporting the business with day-to-day legal queries, identifying legal risks and providing commercially sound advice
- Supervising junior team members
- Assisting with the development and implementation of legal procedures and policies to ensure the business’ compliance with applicable laws
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts, legal documents and other regulatory or contractual requirements
- Supporting the business with legal proceedings, working with outside counsel when required
- Preparing and conducting legal training for staff
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor – England and Wales
- Commercial skill set, with strong knowledge of commercial law and the digital, technology, IT legal space
- Solid training and qualifications from a leading national or international law firm or reputable business
- In-house experience is highly desirable
- Experience of working for a global brand and advising on multi-jurisdictional issues is highly desirable

- Exercises sound commercial judgment in negotiation of contracts and giving advice, anticipating counter-arguments
- Considers commercial and legal implications even when dealing with complex business requirements/negotiations and learns from experience; drafts with precision to avoid adverse consequences
- Supervises the structuring, drafting and negotiation of contracts and other documents by more junior team members
- Recognises, understands and maintains effective communication with key stakeholders on risks within projects; promptly and effectively addresses unforeseen risks if they arise. Exercises judgment on when to seek specialist advice, involve other business areas and/or escalate
- Demonstrates understanding and awareness of commercial issues that may impact the business and the beauty/retail market
- Demonstrates understanding and awareness of other cultures, jurisdictions and business approaches
- Takes initiative to contribute to the team’s knowledge bank developing relevant precedents, templates, and playbooks; identifies, develops and implements improvements to internal legal and business processes
- Develops, facilitates and presents training for legal and business colleagues
