About the Role
The Assistant In-Room Dining Manager supports the In-Room Dining Manager in the daily operation of the department, ensuring exceptional service standards, operational efficiency, and a positive colleague and guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily operation of In-Room Dining, including service execution, scheduling, opening and closing duties, payroll support, and reporting.
- Supervise and support the In-Room Dining team to ensure prompt, professional, and courteous food and beverage service.
- Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, cleanliness, sanitation, and health & safety compliance.
- Assist in monitoring departmental productivity, labor costs, revenues, and operational expenses.
- Support the implementation and adherence of departmental standards, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist with colleague training, coaching, performance development, and fostering positive working relationships.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and maintain effective communication with Culinary and other hotel departments.
- Support promotional, merchandising, menu, and marketing initiatives.
- Participate in regular operational and cleanliness inspections.
- Maintain a visible floor presence during service periods and lead by example.
- Monitor inventory, supplies, equipment, fixtures, and furniture.
- Handle guest reservations, special requests, and service recovery situations.
- Assist with departmental budgeting, monthly reporting, sales tracking, and achievement of operational goals.
- Support departmental participation in hotel environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of the outlet’s POS system and ensure hotel standards, policies, and procedures are consistently followed.
- Attend meetings as required and perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Must be MS Word, Excel and E-mail literate.
- Understand and be committed to the health and safety issues in the workplace.
- Previous management experience in a food and beverage setting, particularly in a restaurant.
- Must be a highly motivated individual who is able to achieve results with minimal supervision.
- Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a supervisory/management position in a union environment.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
