About the Role
As a personal representative of the hotel, you will provide guests with service that reflects the high standards of the Royal York, ensuring all guest expectations are exceeded. A thorough understanding of operations, menus, and suggestive upselling is essential for an optimal dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Act as a personal representative of the hotel, providing service that reflects high standards.
- Ensure all guest expectations are exceeded.
- Possess a thorough understanding of operations, menus (including wine, a la carte, and promotional), and suggestively upsell.
- Report to duty punctually, in full uniform, adhering to appearance and grooming standards.
- Consistently offer personal, friendly, and efficient service.
- Clear dishes, deliver meals, and present bills professionally and discreetly.
- Have full knowledge of the menu, dietary restrictions, and beverage lists.
- Take corrective action with dissatisfied guests to ensure they leave happy.
- Maintain teamwork and good work ethics with all guests and colleagues.
- Understand shift end reports, non-cash/cash transactions, and money deposit procedures.
- Understand and adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and departmental standards.
- Understand the restaurant's concept, hours of operation, order taking, reservation procedures, table setting, and guest service standards.
- Understand each work section and assigned side duties.
- Attend pre-shift, weekly, and monthly meetings.
- Fully understand and follow the hotel’s recycling program and procedures.
- Immediately report any accidents to management.
- Express concerns, suggestions, or comments for improvement.
- Understand how to operate all equipment used in the outlet.
- Understand all other outlets, services, and offices in the hotel.
- Adhere to all Safe Standards, ensuring hygiene and prevention measures are met.
- Adhere to alcohol handling procedures and policies.
- Adhere to all LQA standards set for the department.
- Work weekends, holidays, and shift work as scheduled.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
- Smart Serve training program certification.
- Previous experience of working in an union environment preferred.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must understand and follow the hotel’s recycling program and procedures.
- Must adhere to ALL Safe Standards, ensuring all hygiene and prevention measures are being met.
- Must adhere to alcohol handling procedures and policies.
- Must adhere to all LQA standards set for the department.
