About the Role

The Principal Consultant leads Professional Services' consulting teams during customer projects, overseeing day-to-day operations until completion. They serve as a primary contact between WWT and the customer, potentially leading multiple projects concurrently. This role requires supervising project teams, managing complex projects, and demonstrating expertise through significant career experience in enterprise IT leadership or technical/professional services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Professional Services' consulting teams during customer projects.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of a project until completion.
  • Serve as a primary contact between WWT and the customer for services projects.
  • Lead several projects concurrently.
  • Supervise and lead a project team.
  • Manage a complex project.
  • Lead customer-facing services projects of medium to large size or complexity.
  • Lead all aspects of projects and the development of project deliverables.
  • Understand all client scopes and objectives.
  • Serve as the solution/technical voice facing the client externally and the escalation point internally.
  • Partner with the PMO counterpart to resolve Risks and Issues.
  • Resolve technical Risks and Issues using background and available resources.
  • Hold staff, contractors, and partners responsible for adhering to WWT best practices and templates.
  • Review deployment documents, technical assessments, and other technical outputs.
  • Manage projects as a stand-alone business, focusing on profitability and professionalism.
  • Ensure the team meets customer needs from beginning to end of a project.
  • Carry out consulting activities and methodologies leading to comprehensive discovery, analysis, and technical/business recommendations.

  • Provide the bridge between Sales and Professional Services for new opportunities.
  • Foster long-term client relationships.
  • Successfully manage partner and vendor resources.
  • Provide general understanding of financial forecasting, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Manage personnel.
  • Apply expert knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Proactively detect technical deficiencies and develop practical solutions.
  • Take full responsibility for the overall execution and delivery of critical tasks or projects.
  • Create an environment where others feel safe to be open and candid and where conflicting ideas and opinions are discussed.
  • Convey the WWT vision in accurate and relevant terms.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and tools.
  • Ensure all components and their usage are consistent and compliant with standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage project risk, up/cross-selling, and oversight of team deliverables.
  • Contribute to the definition of industry best practice.
  • Support the organization as required, including project scoping, developing SOWs, and responding to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Deliver within the scope of the SOW while meeting or exceeding profit targets.
  • Provide appropriate direction and feedback to team members.
  • Ensure the team identifies, documents, and drives resolution for program issues.
  • Responsible for training and career development of Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants.
  • Mentor and ensure Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants meet target utilization and quality metrics.
  • Manage project and program budgets and financials.

Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen years (15) of industry experience in enterprise IT management, technology consulting, advisory, or professional services.
  • 5-7 years experience as a Senior or Lead Consultant or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough understanding of at least one central WWT technology practice area, key technology partners, and market trends.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, and management skills.
  • Advanced client-facing skills, including analyzing complex problems and influencing and negotiating with clients.
  • Demonstrated technical consulting experience in one or more vertical sectors: government, public sector, higher education, finance, health care, technology, or other commercial.
  • Recognized expert by significant career experience in enterprise IT leadership or by demonstrating technical/professional services expertise in one or more WWT technology practices.
  • Must be “Two in the Box” as part of WWTs approach to driving successful project outcomes.
  • Advanced communication skills, including business/technical writing and presentations.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to motivate and energize a project team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully at all customer levels, from C-level executives to end users.
  • Proven track record of customer focus.
  • Ability to successfully manage partner and vendor resources.
  • General understanding of financial forecasting, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Personnel management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Willing to travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Takes full responsibility for the overall execution and delivery of critical tasks or projects.
  • Good technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and tools.
  • Ensure that all components and their usage are consistent and compliant with all applicable regulatory, departmental, IT, and corporate standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage project risk, up/cross-selling, and oversight of team deliverables.
  • Contribute to the definition of industry best practice through subject matter expertise.
  • Support the organization as required, including project scoping, developing SOWs, and responding to RFIs, and RFPs.
  • Deliver within the scope of the SOW while meeting or exceeding profit targets.
  • Provide appropriate direction and feedback to team members.
  • Ensure that the team identifies, documents, and drives resolution for program issues.
  • Responsible for training and career development of Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants.
  • Mentoring and ensuring that the Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Senior Consultants are hitting target utilization and quality metrics in programs they oversee.
