About the Role

As a Senior Operations Research (OR) Scientist, you will design an optimisation system to balance the supply/demand capacity of the logistics network. You will analyze large-scale geospatial and real-time data to create automated decision-making systems for dynamic, real-world environments. You will develop and deploy high-performance optimization models using techniques like mixed-integer programming (MIP), constraint programming, and metaheuristics to control operational decisions at scale.

Translate complex OR concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Advanced proficiency in designing large-scale scheduling, rostering, or shift-planning optimisation systems.
Extensive experience applying these techniques in production environments.
Expertise in exact optimisation techniques, notably mixed-integer programming (MIP), decomposition, and capacity planning.
Proficiency in applying (meta) heuristic methods.
Extensive hands-on experience with optimisation modeling in Python using algebraic modeling languages or solver APIs (e.g., Pyomo, PuLP).
Experience with commercial and open-source solvers (like SCIP and Gurobi).
High proficiency in Python object-oriented programming.
Proven experience in getting models to production, scaling, and maintaining them.
Strong understanding of software development best practices, including rigorous testing, CI/CD pipelines, git workflows, and code reviews.
Experience working with Docker containers.
Experience in the logistics and last-mile delivery domain is highly beneficial.
Intuitively understand complex operational constraints, contracts, and geographic intricacies over discrete time intervals.
Preference for simple, scalable, and effective solutions.
Expertise in agile environments.
Strong collaborative skills.
