About the Role

This critical leadership role is responsible for transforming our procurement function from a reactive, distributor-reliant purchasing model into an active, direct-to-manufacturer global sourcing engine. The individual will own the internal procurement team, oversee vendor relationships, optimize supply chain analytics, and eliminate material shortages. This role requires a blend of commercial negotiation expertise and technical/scientific acumen, bridging Procurement, Quality, and R&D to analyze ingredient specifications before purchase.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions with manufacturers to understand ingredient formulations and scientific rigor.
  • Establish guardrails to filter out unapproved excipients or carriers.
  • Collaborate with Quality and R&D to align on material specifications and testing protocols.
  • Ensure vendor offering parameters match internal testing capabilities.
  • Lead the transition from domestic distributors to direct global manufacturing partnerships.
  • Negotiate down vendor Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) and structure blanket agreements.
  • Mitigate supply chain risk by securing secondary and tertiary backup manufacturing options.
  • Transform transactional vendor communications into collaborative partnerships via an SRM framework.
  • Design and lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and operational syncs with core partners.
  • Develop and launch a Supplier Scorecard program to measure and improve supplier performance.
  • Architect and enforce warehouse ordering cadences within the ERP system.
  • Build and maintain a Sourcing & Supplier Database with critical data points.
  • Integrate supplier capacity limitations and lead times into the S&OP loop.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, global procurement, or supply chain leadership.
  • Direct experience within an FDA-regulated dietary supplement, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or food/beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of dietary ingredient specifications, chemical processing, certificate of analysis (COA) interpretation, testing methodologies (e.g., HPLC, FTIR), and raw material excipient regulations.
  • Proven track record of building supplier databases, creating vendor qualification metrics, and launching supplier scorecard loops.
  • Demonstrated success dismantling high vendor MOQs, implementing blanket purchase orders, and structuring master service agreements (MSAs).
  • Advanced capabilities navigating supply chain workflows within major ERP software (NetSuite highly preferred).
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to drive collaborative, multi-layered supplier partnerships.
