About the Role

This position is created specifically for the 2026 Canada Summer Jobs program, offering a chance to gain quality work experience, develop and improve skills, and access the labour market more easily. The role involves assisting with recreational programming, supporting residents to reduce social isolation, and participating in various activities within the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recreational programming in the Village
• Offer one to one visits and support to reduce social isolation amongst our older adults
• Assist residents to outdoor programming such as games, walking, gardening, outdoor concerts
• Assist residents with getting to and from exercise classes
• Assist with the therapeutic gardening program
• Encourage residents to participate in the recreational events
• Be part of welcoming our new admissions into the home
• Assist Recreation Aides with scheduled trips and outings
• Other tasks as needed

Requirements

• All applicants must meet eligibility guidelines as specified by Service Canada
• Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
• Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
• International students are not eligible participants
• Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible
• Successful candidates must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Salary/Compensations

• $17.60/hour (minimum 30 hours up to 37.5 hours/week)
