About the Role
The Finance & Investment Committee (FIC) provides independent oversight of financial performance, investment strategy, and long-term financial sustainability for the Royal College of Pharmacy. This voluntary role supports the Board of Trustees in fulfilling governance responsibilities, ensuring prudent financial management, strategic investment alignment, and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Review the proposed Budget and its alignment with approved business plans, reporting opinions to the Board of Trustees.
- Assess and recommend actions to the Board of Trustees on significant budget variances.
- Assess the effectiveness and adequacy of financial and operating controls, ensuring annual financial statements fairly represent the financial position.
- Review significant accounting policies and procedures, recommending changes to the Board of Trustees.
- Oversee short and long-term investments in line with Investment Strategy and recommend changes to the Board of Trustees.
Requirements
- Senior management or director-level experience, ideally in finance and/or investment management.
- Experience of strategic oversight of financial performance and budgets.
- Understanding the distinct role of trustees and operational/executive functions.
- An understanding of charity or not-for-profit governance.
- Strong Financial oversight & Performance monitoring.
- Specific experience within property and/or investments is of particular interest.
