About the Role

This role supports the European platform and offers broad exposure to international corporate tax compliance, reporting, advisory work, and strategic project work within a diversified global financial services organization. It is well suited to a tax professional seeking increased responsibility, technical breadth, and stakeholder interaction within an in-house environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the European platform.
  • Support the International Tax team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reported tax disclosures in financial statements and management accounts.
  • Prepare tax update slide packs for board and management committee meetings.
  • Manage the compliance process for EMEA entities, including preparing UK and Irish corporate tax computations and returns.
  • Liaise with Finance colleagues to produce iXBRL formatted accounts.
  • File corporate tax returns or supervise local agents in EMEA.
  • Calculate and advise on tax accruals, tax payments, and UK group relief.
  • Liaise closely with Transfer Pricing colleagues and local teams.
  • Respond to and resolve EMEA tax authorities’ enquiries.
  • Implement process efficiencies to facilitate and enhance tax compliance.
  • Assist with the provision of tax support for ad hoc queries and advice to different parts of the business.
  • Review changes to tax legislation and consider impact for Wells Fargo’s EMEA entities.
  • Assist with corporate tax technical analysis and input to key projects and restructuring initiatives.
  • Act as a technical expert on direct tax matters for key stakeholders.
  • Support the management and maintenance of the tax governance and controls framework.

Requirements

  • Experience in Corporate Tax, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, or education.
  • Post-qualification experience preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Corporate Tax experience either in practice and/or in-house.
  • Solid understanding of European tax issues for a multinational company.
  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting, financial statement tax disclosures, and corporate tax reporting.
  • Knowledge of international tax issues including permanent establishments, corporate residence, transfer pricing, and tax treaties.
  • Understanding of end-to-end corporate tax reporting and compliance processes.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly and concisely to non-tax stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ability to manage external advisors, engagements, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with multiple business and support functions.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgement.
  • Capable of working independently while contributing effectively as part of a broader global tax team.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrates integrity, initiative, and accountability.
