About the Role

BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a well-rounded, experienced Accounting Manager who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats, navigating a variety of accounting functions, and stepping in wherever needed to support a small but high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all financial operations, including payroll month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.
  • Provide guidance and support to AP and AR teams while implementing effective internal controls and process improvements.
  • Drive the establishment and management of key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reviewing financial performance against organizational goals.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial strategies align with the organization’s broader goals.
  • Provide financial insights and reporting that support decision-making.
  • Contribute to audit preparation, financial statement review, and other key financial management tasks.
  • Ensure continuous development of financial processes to improve overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the AP and AR teams, fostering an environment of growth and efficiency.
  • Actively participate in management meetings to provide financial insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Director of Finance.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent in a business-related accounting & finance field
  • 4+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • Experience with financial software and accounting platforms
  • Not-for-profit accounting and leadership experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct preferred
  • Familiarity with GAAP, accrual, and cash basis of accounting preferred

Skills

  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, practices, and regulations
  • Experience with payroll management, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Advanced analytical skills with a focus on data trending and root cause analysis

  • $72,500
