About the Role

BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a well-rounded, experienced Accounting Manager who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats, navigating a variety of accounting functions, and stepping in wherever needed to support a small but high-performing team.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all financial operations, including payroll month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
Supervise the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.
Provide guidance and support to AP and AR teams while implementing effective internal controls and process improvements.
Drive the establishment and management of key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reviewing financial performance against organizational goals.
Conduct root cause analysis of discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial strategies align with the organization’s broader goals.
Provide financial insights and reporting that support decision-making.
Contribute to audit preparation, financial statement review, and other key financial management tasks.
Ensure continuous development of financial processes to improve overall organizational effectiveness.
Provide guidance and mentorship to the AP and AR teams, fostering an environment of growth and efficiency.
Actively participate in management meetings to provide financial insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
Perform other duties as required by the Director of Finance.

Requirements

4-year college degree or equivalent in a business-related accounting & finance field
4+ years of accounting/finance experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
Experience with financial software and accounting platforms
Not-for-profit accounting and leadership experience preferred
Familiarity with Sage Intacct preferred
Familiarity with GAAP, accrual, and cash basis of accounting preferred

Skills

Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, practices, and regulations
Experience with payroll management, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls
Advanced analytical skills with a focus on data trending and root cause analysis
Ability to troubleshoot and improve accounting systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
