About the Role

As a Principal Solution Consultant, you will partner with AspenTech sales teams during the sales cycle to lead consultative discovery with customers, craft a solution vision and roadmap, identify value capture potential, and define an implementation program. You will maintain a deep understanding of AspenTech's product strategy, professional services, and partner capabilities to drive opportunities where our solutions deliver significant business value. This customer-facing role requires self-motivated individuals with strong business, industry, and technical knowledge, along with consultative and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop O&G and other segment-specific solutions for the Japan industry and APM application.
  • Lead value discovery customer sessions, assess customer needs, and develop solutions and value propositions.
  • Determine and understand prospective clients' critical business issues to present and demonstrate AspenTech's software capabilities as the best solution.
  • Build client-specific solutions on the AspenTech platform using available tool options.
  • Develop robust recommendations, proposals, and scope of work documents for AspenTech Consulting engagements.
  • Consult with customers and advise on relevant AspenTech solutions and services, establishing a credible value proposition.
  • Develop and execute sales campaigns and plans with sales teams.
  • Identify and qualify business opportunities with the Sales team.
  • Identify key customer technical challenges and develop solutions to meet business needs.
  • Proactively support pipeline development and sales execution in assigned accounts and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Previous consultant, pre-sales, or professional services consultant role experience, particularly in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, and Asset Performance Management.
  • Experience with Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence applications in Engineering companies.
  • Basic knowledge of data historian, MES integration, Advanced Process Control, and Data Fabric.
  • Strong knowledge of industry processes, challenges, and evolving trends.
  • Understanding of cloud, SaaS solutions, ML/AI, and their impact in the Engineering industry.
  • Understanding of sustainability issues is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Oil & Gas industry economics with the ability to interact knowledgeably with potential clients.
  • Strong drive to solve customer problems and rapidly convert pipeline opportunities into closed deals.
  • Balance of business and technology acumen, including the ability to articulate high-level technical solutions to business problems and their differentiated value.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to create clear observations, analysis, and conclusions.
  • Regional experience with Asia is preferable.
  • Occasional global engagements outside primary operational region.
  • Previous knowledge and experience with Python is a plus.
  • Previous experience in technical sales.
  • Previous experience in Operations.
  • Travel within Japan approximately 50 - 60%.
