About the Role
The Special Education Preschool Teacher creates a supportive and structured learning environment for young children with autism, designing and delivering individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP. This role involves guiding classroom staff, partnering with families, and laying the foundation for lifelong learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain evidence-based classroom systems and positive behavior systems.
- Manage classroom time, materials, equipment, paperwork, and schedules effectively.
- Prepare, deliver, and assess daily individual and group instruction.
- Develop, train, and assess student IEP goals and objectives.
- Utilize behavioral supports to facilitate student learning and skill development.
- Build a successful classroom team to address student learning, communication, social skills, and behavioral needs.
- Provide direct supervision to all Teachers' Aides.
- Manage all parent communication and education opportunities to build school-parent partnerships and support skill generalization.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Special Education and Initial/Professional NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities Birth-2nd.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Certificate of Qualification or Provisional Certification in Special Education with a commitment to pursue Master's in Special Education at the rate of at least 6 credits per year and achieve Birth-2nd SWD NYS Certification.
- Ability to perform and assist in agency crisis intervention procedures.
