This role involves developing interactive dashboards, performing analyses, and designing automated workflows to provide strategic insights for stakeholders and shape the future of Utah's transportation network.

Responsibilities

  • Translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders and bridge the gap between IT teams and business units.
  • Partner with operational divisions to translate challenges into analytical projects, using statistical validation to quantify trends and outcomes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to enterprise governance, data quality, and privacy standards (PII) through documentation and lineage mapping.
  • Collaborate on building and cleaning datasets, managing SQL scripts, and maintaining automated data ingestion workflows.
  • Develop "proof-of-concept" models to evaluate emerging data streams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Business Administration) and 2+ years of experience as a Data or BI Analyst—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with statistical languages (Python/R) and BI platforms (Looker, Power BI, or Tableau).
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear technical documentation and deliver compelling data narratives to diverse audiences.
  • Direct experience working with a Business Intelligence platform such as PowerBI, Google Looker, Tableau, or Cognos.
  • Direct experience working within a modern cloud infrastructure environment, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including tools like Google BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum project management methodologies and tracking platforms like Jira.
  • Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts, linear referencing systems, or geospatial data mapping tools.
