About the Role

As a Product Designer on the Developer Platform Team, you will work across the full product development cycle, from exploration to launch and iteration. You will solve meaningful problems for game developers and players by bringing a thoughtful mix of user empathy, systems thinking, and visual craft. Your work will span surfaces like the developer portal, dashboards, self-serve tools, in-game overlays, and the Discord client itself, focusing on enhancing player experiences and deepening connections to games.

Responsibilities

Embed within a product squad and partner with engineers, product managers, researchers, and data scientists to oversee the user experience of a product from concept to launch and iteration.
Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and ensure pixel-perfect implementation of designs.
Quality check all work during development to ensure it reflects the design vision.
Own the bar for craft, execution, and production quality for the immediate product team.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve work quality through playtesting.
Actively influence the team's roadmap with a deep understanding of the product space and act as a thought leader with XFN leads in defining product strategy.
Present designs to the team and the wider organization to drive alignment.
Identify gaps or improvements for the design system and contribute UX and design patterns.
Be an active peer and participant in the organization's design team and culture, sharing and contributing in critiques and general channels.
Encourage a culture of open feedback and active support.

Requirements

5+ years of experience developing and leading design on central end-to-end consumer products across a variety of platforms (web, mobile, desktop, console, etc).
Experience as a design lead for a squad, feature, initiative, and team.
Comfortable making design decisions, leading discussions, and communicating to the wider organization.
Experience working on B2B/B2B2C products and platforms.
Expert-level experience with Figma and high-fidelity prototyping tools.
Confidence in utilizing AI to create prototypes.
Strong product thinking and strategic vision.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into intuitive user experiences.
Adept at articulating the rationale behind design decisions and their alignment with broader product goals.
Mastery of design craft, including typography, color theory, layout principles, and interaction design.
Commitment to pixel-perfect execution and a keen eye for subtle details.
High level of skill at crafting high-quality visual designs.
Compelling storytelling skills across multiple mediums.
Consistent experience pitching and influencing design decisions across peers, team members, and organization leadership.
Strong, proactive communication skills.
Ability to form ideas and present them to cross-functional teams to develop product strategy and roadmaps.
Desire to deeply understand the 'why' before defining the 'how'.
Ability to develop a strategic product perspective and vision.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
Ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and measure impact.
Experience working with and contributing to a design system with components of sub-system languages.
