About the Role

Scotiabank’s Corporate Finance Advisory team advises corporate clients on capital structure, financing strategy, credit positioning, and strategic decisions including valuation, M&A, shareholder dynamics, and market trends. The team partners across the Global Banking and Markets platform to deliver analytically driven recommendations and insights, focusing on capital structure optimization, credit analysis, valuation, capital allocation, risk management, and shareholder positioning. This role seeks a quantitative analyst to deliver analytical, data-driven content and strategic financial advisory. Responsibilities include developing financial models and presentations to evaluate capital structure alternatives, assess credit and liquidity needs, and analyze valuation and capital allocation decisions. The analyst will translate detailed financial analysis into clear, actionable insights for client decisions across capital raising, deployment, M&A, and shareholder strategy, and leverage data science for thematic trend analysis and origination opportunities.

Responsibilities

Evaluate strategic and financial needs of corporate clients and develop tailored solutions
Synthesize company, industry, and market data to generate differentiated ideas and identify new business opportunities
Apply both equity and credit perspectives to provide thoughtful, balanced recommendations and inform due diligence
Deliver consistent, high-quality work with strong attention to detail
Build long-term relationships with clients and collaborate across stakeholders throughout the banking and capital markets platform
Support deal sourcing and execution through rigorous fundamental analysis, capital markets insights, scenario modeling, and client-ready presentation materials

Requirements

A positive, proactive, and intellectually curious mindset
Bachelors or masters degree in a quantitative field preferred
Prior experience in investment banking, capital markets, rating agencies, consulting, equity or credit research is a plus
Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, etc. are a plus
Proven record of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement
