Responsibilities
- Define and drive the multi-year architectural roadmap for Android applications, ensuring reliable and scalable offline-first capabilities and real-time data syncing.
- Lead high-impact cross-functional technical projects, including codebase modularization, local data persistence optimization, and UI layer overhauls.
- Own the stability and performance of the hospitality suite, designing resilient systems for high-pressure 24/7 environments.
- Mentor Senior and Mid-level engineers, setting standards for code quality, documentation, and automated testing.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, and leadership to evaluate feasibility, shape roadmap decisions, and align technical investments with business outcomes.
- Partner with enablement teams to improve CI/CD, automated testing, failure analysis, and AI-assisted engineering tool usage.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant Android application development at scale and demonstrated Staff Engineer scope or equivalent technical leadership.
- Deep Kotlin experience, including coroutines, Flow, and structured concurrency; experience modernizing or interoperating with legacy Android architectures (e.g., RxJava).
- Proven experience designing and evolving large, multi-module Android applications.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture).
- Experience with complex local data management, offline-first workflows, synchronization, or high-volume real-time data flows.
- Ability to diagnose complex performance, reliability, and cross-layer issues across application, OS, hardware, and network boundaries.
- Track record of leading technical initiatives through influence across multiple teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical tradeoffs to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience building POS, hospitality, retail, logistics, payments, or other operationally critical software.
- Experience integrating with payment SDKs, device services, Bluetooth/USB peripherals, printers, scanners, or custom Android hardware.
- Experience with mobile observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Sentry, Firebase, ELK).
- Experience improving automated testing, CI/CD, release quality, or developer productivity for mobile teams.
