About the Role
This position reports directly to the store manager. The role involves performing general store staff duties, including merchandise delivery and pickup, timely handling of incoming and outgoing merchandise, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and providing excellent customer service in a retail environment by processing transactions and accepting payments.
Responsibilities
- Greet each customer promptly and answer the telephone within three rings.
- Answer customer questions regarding merchandise price, availability, and function.
- Obtain merchandise for customers or receive selected merchandise and create invoices.
- Ensure outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, and maintaining solid product knowledge.
- Total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customers to determine the bill.
- Accept payment and make change.
- Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
- Obtain signatures on charge invoices and process cash invoices.
- Correctly place any special orders as required by customers.
- Balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift, if necessary.
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
- Set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise to promote sales.
- Stamp, mark, or tag prices on merchandise.
- Bag or box orders accordingly.
- Ensure outgoing transfers are processed properly and timely.
- Clean shelves, counters, or tables.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat, maintaining a clean shipping supply area, and complying with all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Perform custodial duties including sweeping warehouse/showroom, dusting shelves, organizing merchandise, cleaning and stocking restrooms, and keeping aisles clear.
- Present a good company image through proper dress and attitude.
- Participate in and complete sponsored and supported training.
- Attend training or use electronic media to increase product knowledge.
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.
- Maintain grounds and parking lot.
- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearance.
- Use a company provided vehicle to deliver or pick up parts and merchandise from company customers and vendors.
- Handle incoming and outgoing merchandise in a timely manner.
- Keep the store and facility clean, safe, and organized.
Requirements
- Exemplary company work record, including attendance.
- Ability to work in a high-paced, busy atmosphere.
- Related experience in the auto parts industry preferred.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Successfully complete background and criminal history checks.
- Pass a physical, human performance evaluation, and a drug test.
- Good understanding of and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
- Attitude that supports the Company’s goals and values.
- Meet all requirements to qualify for inclusion on AOC Approved Driver List.
Skills
- Ability to work well with others and assist customers cooperatively and courteously.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read and write in English.
