About the Role
California Life Sciences (CLS) seeks a dynamic, results-driven professional to drive membership growth, expand market presence, and strengthen engagement within California's life sciences ecosystem. This highly visible role manages the full membership sales lifecycle, from prospecting to long-term account growth, collaborating with members, partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional experiences. The role develops and executes business development strategies to increase membership, strengthen industry relationships, and drive sustainable revenue, partnering with various teams to enhance CLS's impact.
Responsibilities
- Drive membership growth and revenue by identifying and converting high-value prospects across the life sciences ecosystem.
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Conduct market analysis to identify industry trends, competitive dynamics, and growth opportunities.
- Build and expand a robust pipeline of prospective members and strategic partners through proactive outreach and networking.
- Establish trusted advisor relationships with executive leaders and key decision-makers, communicating CLS membership value.
- Lead the full membership sales lifecycle, including prospecting, negotiation, and account expansion.
- Partner with BIO Business Solutions, CLS Cost Savings partners, and strategic stakeholders to enhance member value and accelerate growth.
- Champion a seamless onboarding experience for new members, fostering strong relationships and early engagement.
- Maintain data-driven pipeline management using Salesforce to track opportunities, forecast performance, and provide insights.
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting on sales activities, pipeline health, revenue, and market trends.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to refine sales strategies and optimize member acquisition and retention.
- Leverage market intelligence and member feedback to identify needs, strengthen value propositions, and support program improvement.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for CLS, strengthening its reputation and presence within the life sciences community.
- Represent CLS at industry events to expand strategic relationships, generate leads, and increase brand awareness.
- Maintain significant field presence through regular travel, engaging with members to deepen relationships and uncover growth opportunities.
- Contribute to organization-wide membership campaigns and strategic initiatives for sustainable growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of outside sales experience within the life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales, membership, business development, or revenue goals.
- Experience building relationships with senior leaders, executives, and key decision-makers.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience utilizing CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and manage a territory with significant travel.
- Ability to travel throughout California and attend occasional overnight events.
- Reliable transportation for business travel.
