About the Role

Lead an AI-first engineering rebuild, establishing quality and reliability standards from inception for a company with 100M+ audience. Own the strategy for shipping correct and resilient software at scale, covering quality engineering and site reliability across consumer platforms and the creator ecosystem. This is a hands-on expert role focused on setting standards and building foundational systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the test strategy across unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and chaos/resilience testing.
• Define and own release-readiness criteria for high-risk launches.
• Establish SLO and error-budget frameworks for critical services and drive their adoption across teams.
• Build foundational tooling including CI/CD test gates, regression suites, load-testing harnesses, and observability instrumentation.
• Lead incident response for high-severity events, conduct blameless postmortems, and ensure follow-through.
• Identify systemic sources of fragility and drive root-cause fixes.
• Act as the technical authority on go/no-go calls, communicating risk to non-technical stakeholders.
• Own build-vs-buy decisions for monitoring, tracing, alerting, and test-automation platforms.
• Mentor engineers on reliability principles.

Requirements

• Daily use of AI with a strong viewpoint on AI-assisted testing and anomaly detection.
• Extensive hands-on experience in software quality engineering and site reliability.
• Experience with test-automation architecture and reliability systems for high-traffic distributed production.
• Defined SLO/error-budget frameworks.
• Led incident response for severe production events.
• Treats every escaped defect as a systemic problem.
• Strong engineering skills to build tooling and review systems-level code.
• Ability to influence teams through working systems and evidence.
