About the Role

The Light/Medium Duty Automotive Technician performs preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and licensed DOT inspections at customer locations. This role involves continuous learning of advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques, working on various light/medium duty vehicles and specialty equipment, and achieving high-level performance metrics while complying with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Travel to and perform work at customer locations, primarily outdoors.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light and medium vehicles in the field.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, lifts, and jacks.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on customer vehicles, trucks, and equipment, including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, gas engines, and manual/automatic transmissions.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various vehicles, trucks, and equipment, including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, gas engines, manual/automatic transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments like scanners and pressure gauges.
  • Identify problems, determine information accuracy, and use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently determine, order, and pick up parts required for each job.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using a company-provided cellphone and paper, including uploading pictures.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist in daily cleanup of tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Apply acquired knowledge from formal training or on-the-job experience to perform job duties, working with and evaluating technical information.
  • Collaborate with the support team to assess customer needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively.
  • Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain high productivity and work within or close to Standard Repair Times.
  • Communicate with corporate support team for repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO findings discussions.
  • Participate in and complete all company-required safety training.
  • Maintain assigned service vehicle, conducting safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Automotive Technician on light/medium vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certifications/skill/experiences.
  • Two (2) years of equivalent experience in a similar capacity Technician role.
  • Participate in and complete all company-required training.

Experience Level

  • Minimum 1 year as Automotive Technician (light/medium vehicle repair)
  • 2 years equivalent experience in a similar Technician role

Education Level

  • Technical education/certifications (equivalent combination)

Salary/Compensations

  • Annual salary range of $52,000 to $62,400+ (based on $25-$30+ per hour, paid weekly, based on experience and location)
