About the Role

AECOM seeks an Area Manager and Senior Project Manager specializing in Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. This dual role involves driving team performance, contributing to project execution and delivery, and overseeing major programs to achieve internal and client performance indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Drive program performance to meet and exceed client satisfaction and KPIs
  • Understand and drive business performance to attain and exceed internal KPIs
  • Interact with business leadership on governance and risk issues to proactively identify and address risk management triggers
  • Develop and formulate solutions to client problems and issues
  • Participate in project reviews of major program and project dashboards to identify issues and improve performance
  • Drive faster adoption of digital tools
  • Actively integrate international Enterprise Capabilities into project delivery to meet business targets and manage transitions with business leadership
  • Continually develop ideas for program and process improvement
  • Directly engage in and manage high-quality client projects
  • Share people management responsibilities for approximately 50 department staff
  • Serve as a focal point for major issue resolution and provide rapid follow-up to address concerns
  • Participate in feedback for Project Managers to assure client satisfaction and long-term growth
  • Develop and implement succession plans for the team and advise on recruiting key people to serve client needs
  • Assure project delivery employees are trained and mentored with a long-term goal of training new project managers
  • Coach project managers and team members on understanding business performance and internal KPIs; implement processes with Project Managers
  • Evaluate individual performance of project managers within the department
  • Work collaboratively with Client Account Manager(s), Practice Area Leaders, and Business Line Leadership to grow profitable backlog and ensure financial success of client programs
  • Develop budgets for business development portfolio management, tracking and optimizing wins and bookings, and project oversight
  • Lead capture strategies for key pursuits and major projects within the department, ensuring high capture rates and business growth
  • Act as a point of escalation for project issues and make recommendations to improve performance, including addressing resourcing gaps, technical issues, invoicing, cash collection, and subconsultant concerns
  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual performance related to financial forecasting (Pro Forma, Path to Plan, Annual Plan) in support of business leadership
  • Work alongside business leadership to drive strong working capital performance by actively monitoring cash flow (Unbilled, Billed AR, and DSO)
  • Drive consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM Project Delivery System (PDS) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Maintain departmental compliance with West Region Environment Pricing guidance and risk management framework
  • Ensure the accuracy of the department’s growth pipeline data and associated Detailed Forecast data and output reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Geology, Environmental Science Engineering, or related field
  • 8 years of experience in a technical discipline with a proven track record in both project management and business development
  • US citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Ability to pass a background check and a motor vehicle records check
  • Strong knowledge and track record in the environmental and remediation business
  • Knowledge of risk-based strategic asset management and advocacy in multiple state jurisdictions working for an Environmental Consultant
  • Master's Degree
  • Registered PE or PG in Texas and/or Louisiana
  • 15+ years related experience
  • Broad range of site characterization and remediation experience across multiple market sectors
  • Experienced people manager and team builder
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent active listening skills
