About the Role

The Cashier Supervisor manages the cashier department, upholds company standards, ensures excellent customer service, maximizes financial return, and fosters a positive work environment. This role contributes to Ghirardelli's vision of being America's #1 premium chocolate company.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests positively using verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Process purchases using scanner technology or electronic keypad
  • Properly bag purchases, wrapping breakable items as needed
  • Upsell to guests using established procedures
  • Process final purchases using proper cash handling or credit card transactions
  • Close transactions with a friendly greeting and invitation to return
  • Assist guests on the sales floor with purchases when not processing transactions
  • Utilize product and pricing knowledge to satisfy guest inquiries and create upsell opportunities
  • Replenish stock of durable and perishable goods
  • Answer shop phone system and respond to guest service needs professionally
  • Assist Chocolateers, Supervisors, and Management in monitoring guest activity and creating excitement with superior guest service
  • Assist with pre-packing, gift-wrapping, and inventory control and management
  • Offer product samples to guests
  • Supervise the cashier team, including directing breaks and assisting with register issues

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-4 years minimum experience in retail/restaurant cashiering
  • Clear, professional, and effective oral and written communication
  • Team-building skills including empathy, rapport-building, delegation, and empowerment
  • Ability to manage time effectively and be self-directed under minimal supervision
  • Ability to conduct evidence-based business forecasting for sales and resource needs
  • Familiarity with point of sale systems, such as MICROS
  • Knowledge of restaurant or retail management techniques
