About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a Principal – Ontario Land Surveyor to lead and provide professional oversight for the Ontario Land Survey division. This role involves managing a skilled team, collaborating with clients and project leads, and managing diverse, complex projects in a fast-paced environment. The position is within the global Places business area, focusing on creating, supporting, and enhancing smart, safe, and sustainable places for communities worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert leadership and technical guidance as the lead Ontario Land Surveyor.
- Plan, direct, and oversee Geomatics Technical Support Unit activities.
- Offer strategic input on Geomatics policies, standards, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Manage projects, including establishing scope, budget, schedule, and safety expectations with clients.
- Oversee projects to ensure contractual requirements and client quality expectations are met.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are carried out, meeting regulatory requirements for field returns, drawings, and legal plans.
- Sign and professionally certify legal surveys.
- Collaborate with Business Unit Lead and Director to drive growth in the Ontario Land Surveying market.
- Participate in business development, building relationships, preparing proposals, and exploring new opportunities.
- Build a strong, cohesive technical team, fostering personal and professional growth.
Requirements
- Qualified Ontario Land Surveyor, in good standing with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.
- Ability to sign and professionally certify legal surveys.
- Experience working with compliance with all responsibilities outlined in the AOLS Certificate of Authorization.
- Over 8 years of relevant experience.
- Team leadership experience.
- Experience exploring and obtaining new business opportunities through professional relationships.
- Deep business development experience, including writing proposals.
- Strong technical skills in subdivision, condominium, boundary retracements, topographic surveys, and easement mapping.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory standards governing land surveying in Ontario.
- Proficient in industry-standard surveying software and equipment.
- Ability to integrate emerging technologies (e.g., LiDAR, drones) to enhance survey capabilities and innovation (asset).
