About the Role
Provide direction and support to Room Attendants and Housemen, ensuring the Housekeeping Department operates smoothly and efficiently. The Housekeeping Manager oversees daily housekeeping operations to maintain service and cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect showrooms, out of order, and vacant clean rooms daily.
- Prepare daily floor assignments and update status for housekeeping.
- Obtain lists of rooms for immediate cleaning and check-outs to prepare work assignments.
- Inspect landings and pantries for proper stock levels and ensure high cleanliness standards in guest rooms and corridors.
- Inspect and update vacant clean rooms in the computer system promptly.
- Conduct daily written room inspections to ensure guest room perfect condition.
- Ensure guestrooms have proper furniture, fixtures, amenities, and placement standards are followed.
- Strategize room attendant assignments for priority, rush, and VIP rooms.
- Check all due out rooms three times daily (12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM), ensuring all check-outs are cleared by 6 PM.
- Re-check rooms for forgotten items upon guest departure.
- Maintain a database of guest preferences.
- Report daily room discrepancies to the front desk before shift end.
- Report daily engineering deficiencies to the Housekeeping Office Coordinator.
- Interact with guests and employees professionally and service-oriented.
- Report and handle guest requests, complaints, and service issues.
- Recommend service improvements for efficient operation.
- Implement and assign cyclical cleaning programs to Housemen (e.g., general cleaning, window cleaning, high dusting).
- Fulfill diverse guest requests creatively to ensure memorable experiences.
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external hotel contacts.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all hotel departments.
- Inform Housekeeping Management of absences or requests for additional days off.
- Assist with disciplinary actions.
- Assist with interviews and the new hiring process.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance per Fairmont Hotels and Resorts standards.
- Comply with all hotel and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other supervisor-requested duties.
- Adhere to Fairmont Grooming Standards.
- Observe health and safety guidelines.
- Wear required safety equipment or protection.
Requirements
- Knowledge of hotel PMS System, Microsoft Office, and office equipment.
- Ability to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.

- Minimum two years of relevant experience in a luxury hotel (5 diamond or 5 star standards) or comparable environment.
- Degree in Hospitality Management (a plus).
- Prior experience in a Union Environment (highly preferred).
- Frequently stand and walk around the property.
- Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Push or pull items weighing approximately 200 lbs.
- Frequently bend, kneel, stretch, and/or reach.
- Ability to perform tasks higher than floor level.
