About the Role
Flexport Capital is the company's financing arm, providing inventory financing, asset-based lending, term loans, and working capital products to clients. As Portfolio Manager, you will own the full lifecycle of the Capital customer base, managing exposure growth and right-sizing, strategic retention, and collections. This senior commercial leadership role involves setting strategy for managing and growing the installed base, building performance systems and playbooks, and serving as the primary executive relationship owner for complex, high-value accounts. You will partner with Credit, Product, Legal, and senior leadership to evolve Flexport Capital as a business.
Responsibilities
- Own North American Flexport Capital client relationships, engaging with C-Suite, advocating for customers, driving revenue growth, identifying at-risk accounts, and conducting quarterly business reviews.
- Maximize revenue per customer by identifying opportunities for credit line increases, utilization improvement, and cross-selling additional Capital products.
- Leverage Flexport's supply chain data to identify customer capital needs and drive sustainable growth through timely, targeted actions.
- Provide commercial intelligence to the credit and risk team, reviewing financial health, repayment behavior, shipment data, and market conditions to flag early warning signals and drive appropriate actions.
- Build trusted, senior-level relationships with customer CFOs, Finance Directors, Founders, and CEOs, positioning Flexport Capital as a strategic working capital partner.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify growth opportunities, develop bundled freight-capital propositions, and align on account strategy.
- Contribute to the team's growth playbook by surfacing client insights to inform product, pricing, and go-to-market decisions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in commercial finance, fintech lending, specialty finance, or a related field.
- At least 2 years managing a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex, multi-product lending portfolio with accountability for revenue, retention, and credit health outcomes.
- Fluency in working capital structures, covenant compliance, lien priority, UCC filings, collections, and workout mechanics.
- Ability to lead enforcement conversations, make judgment calls on distressed accounts, and partner with Credit and Legal.
- Strong commercial instincts with a track record of driving upsell, cross-sell, and expansion revenue within an existing customer base.
- Excellent communication and executive presence to build trusted senior relationships, navigate difficult conversations, and represent Flexport Capital credibly.
- Proven ability to build systems and playbooks, drive team adoption, and iterate quickly based on results.
