About the Role

Crisis Response Specialists evaluate consumers to determine the need for psychological, psychiatric, or clinical services, activating on-call Master’s Level Clinicians when necessary. The 988 Program delivers 24/7 mobile community outreach to adults in crisis, addressing mental health, substance use, and suicidal emergencies. Teams of two, comprising a Crisis Response Specialist and a Peer Support Specialist, provide assessment, risk assessment, safety planning, service linkage, and follow-up care, aiming for crisis de-escalation without law enforcement unless safety is compromised.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate consumers to determine the need for psychological, psychiatric, or clinical services
  • Activate on-call Master’s Level Clinicians for additional support
  • Provide assessment and risk assessment
  • Develop safety plans
  • Link consumers to services
  • Provide follow-up care
  • Provide crisis de-escalation, avoiding law enforcement unless necessary for safety

Requirements

  • Demonstrate competency in culturally appropriate care
  • Demonstrate competency in trauma informed care
  • Demonstrate competency in de-escalation techniques
  • Demonstrate competency in suicide assessment
  • Demonstrate competency in safety planning prior to independent service delivery
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a mental health related field from an accredited institution plus two years post-Bachelor's professional experience
  • Alternatively, possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any field from an accredited institution with three years’ post-Bachelor’s professional experience in a mental health field
  • Maintain a driver's license in good standing, without recent suspensions or violations of careless/reckless driving or excessive speeding (more than 20 MPH), and no more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years

Salary/Compensations

  • $20.00 - $23.00 Hourly

Benefits

  • $1.00 shift differential for hours worked 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

  • Time and one half paid for time worked on 9 Agency-paid holidays
  • Training opportunities provided throughout the year
  • Retention bonus of $9.60 for every 8-hour shift worked, every six months (for part-time staff)
