About the Role
Performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to resolve problems and ensure satisfaction. Promotes products and services. Works under the direction of a Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls under general supervision
- Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems professionally and accurately
- Diagnose and service heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories
- Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to prevent breakdowns
- Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning
- Deliver and remove parts and equipment for service work
- Record all required customer call information using a hand-held device
- Complete all forms and paperwork accurately and timely
- Collect payment from customers
- Communicate with dispatch to provide status reports and availability
- Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high satisfaction levels
- Promote products and services to customers
- Generate replacement product sales leads and communicate them to the Sales and Service Coordinator
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and accounted for
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically
- Follow standard procedures, stock company vehicle, return defective warranty parts, and replenish stock
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance
Requirements
- 1-2+ years’ experience in HVAC
- Possess all valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local laws for the work area
- EPA and safety certifications
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, congested areas)
- Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
- Natural or corrected vision for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
Skills
- Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment, and related accessories
- Proficient mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment for service projects
- Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on HVAC equipment
- Proficient at starting up and balancing airflow, and aligning belts and pulleys on all systems with little to no supervision
- Proficient at installing a basic duct fitting
- Proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision
- Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues
- Effective and efficient time-management and organizational skills
