Responsibilities
- Execute secondary structure welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing.
- Learn to operate all welding machines, including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welders.
- Apply working knowledge of material properties, methods, and basic setup, verification, adjustment, and operation of welding equipment and hand tools (grinding and cutting).
- Read blueprints or work instructions, set up jigs and fixtures, and comprehend welding symbols and sequences.
- Safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Learn to weld different materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel) and pass entry-level welder evaluation tests.
- Communicate effectively with Supervision, Level A welders, Engineering, and Quality Departments regarding design or material changes.
- Accept different work assignments and maintain a clean working environment.
- Listen, learn, and comprehend from experienced welders to meet company and customer requirements.
- Assist in new process development and product troubleshooting.
- Utilize digital technology in daily work responsibilities.
- Inspect arc or spot welded weldments per acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements for specification conformance.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a safe manner compliant with all Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to obtain or possess external certifications (AWS/ANST or equivalent).
- Acceptable hand/eye coordination and ability to pass visual acuity test.
