This role is for a credible, influential leader and fully qualified accountant, supporting the Finance Director, leading an established finance team, and shaping the financial future of a growing business. Responsibilities include leading a finance team, strengthening controls, elevating reporting quality, and shaping financial and operational strategy.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Finance Director on financial and operational strategy, providing insight, challenge, and analysis.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of a standard costing model.
- Mentor, develop, and inspire the finance team, ensuring high performance and accountability.
- Oversee stock, COGS, and WIP, ensuring accuracy, control, and operational alignment.
- Deliver accurate monthly accounts by segment, group consolidations, and KPI reporting for stakeholders.
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes and lead bank audit requirements.
- Ensure financial integrity across multiple entities with strong processes, governance, and compliance.
- Build financial models and structures to support operational decision-making and commercial planning.
- Oversee HMRC compliance, including excise, VAT, duty, and payroll tax.
- Lead ERP implementation (Tropos/Kinetic), including BOM mapping, WIP reporting, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
- Drive efficiency through automation, system enhancements, and continuous improvement.
- Manage cost allocations, cost analysis, capex reporting, and cashflow forecasting.
- Provide weekly visibility on cash flow, accrued revenue, debtors, and liquidity.
- Act as the key finance lead for external auditors and third-party stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with Commercial and Operations teams, adding commercial value and financial clarity.
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams
- Strong technical grounding in financial reporting, controls, and compliance
- Experience operating as a trusted partner to senior leadership
- Gravitas, credibility, and ability to influence across multi-site or multi-entity environments
- Hands-on capability combined with strategic thinking
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or product-led environments (advantageous)
- ERP implementation experience (Tropos/Kinetic desirable)
