About the Role

The London Academy for Applied Technology (LAAT) is a dynamic and rapidly growing higher education institution delivering undergraduate Business programmes in partnership with Plymouth Marjon University. LAAT is committed to widening participation and delivering an outstanding student experience through high-quality teaching and robust governance. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Academic Coordinator to join our growing team. This pivotal role bridges strategic academic planning and on-the-ground delivery, ensuring smooth programme operation, effective resource management, and excellent support for staff and students. Reporting to the Programme Lead/Assistant Program Leads, this role involves close collaboration with module, level, and cohort leads, and faculty to coordinate academic operations across our vibrant portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day programme administration.
  • Coordinate class schedules and support academic planning activities.
  • Organise student and staff induction programmes.
  • Ensure all teaching resources (lecture rooms, software, library lists) are in place before each term.
  • Manage the setup and distribution of teaching and assessment materials.
  • Maintain up-to-date content on the Learning Management System (LMS) and shared drives.
  • Track teaching progress and assignment schedules.
  • Produce reports flagging issues like grading delays or class cancellations and recommend solutions.
  • Help onboard new lecturers.
  • Maintain faculty schedules and contact lists.
  • Facilitate regular faculty meetings.
  • Support professional development initiatives for staff.
  • Maintain accurate academic records, attendance data, progression records, and programme documentation.
  • Produce regular reports and dashboards to support academic monitoring, planning, and decision-making.
  • Act as a point of contact for student academic enquiries.
  • Monitor student engagement metrics such as attendance and LMS activity.
  • Coordinate follow-up interventions to support student success and retention.
  • Support the implementation of academic policies relating to assessment, feedback, academic integrity, and programme delivery.
  • Maintain programme records and prepare documentation for audits, quality reviews, academic boards, and partnership requirements.
  • Maintain precise academic records, from enrolments and progress data to monthly dashboard reports.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with academic regulations and reporting requirements associated with LAAT's partnership with Plymouth Marjon University.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to enrolments, assessments, progression, attendance, and academic activities in accordance with institutional policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Oversee the configuration and upkeep of the LMS.
  • Enrol users, upload content, and run audits on the LMS.
  • Provide guidance to staff and students to ensure seamless digital learning.
  • Process academic-related invoices, purchase requests, and expenditure records.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to support the procurement of academic resources and services.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in academic administration or coordination, ideally within a UK higher education context.
  • Strong working knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Moodle) and student information systems.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities to keep complex processes running smoothly across multiple programmes.
  • Clear, confident communication skills for liaising effectively with faculty, students, and external partners.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a collaborative, can-do attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
