About the Role

The Data Scientist Sr independently performs data analytics using structured and unstructured data, ranging from data analysis to machine learning. This role involves presenting complex concepts to diverse audiences, building and improving BI dashboards for banking businesses, and designing data-driven solutions to create competitive differentiation. The Senior Data Scientist partners across functions to co-build data foundations and analytics delivery infrastructure for insights and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform data analytics (data analysis, regression, machine learning) using structured and unstructured data.
  • Guide other data scientists in data analytics.
  • Present complex concepts to diverse audiences across the organization.
  • Build and improve the development of metrics, reports, and analysis into BI dashboards for banking businesses.
  • Manage ongoing data analytics processes, document calculations, code, and adhere to risk and compliance practices.
  • Troubleshoot issues and suggest alternative approaches or controls to mitigate risks/gaps.
  • Develop and design data-driven solutions for client insights, segmentation, sales & marketing lead generation, performance analysis, and product analytics.
  • Partner across functions (line of businesses, IT, Data Office, third-party vendors) to co-build data foundation and analytics delivery infrastructure.
  • Assume end-to-end responsibilities on key initiatives, leveraging partnerships to achieve shared vision.
  • Use independent judgment and discretion to make decisions.
  • Analyze and resolve problems.
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as required.
  • Consistently adhere to regulatory and compliance policies and standards.
  • Complete required compliance trainings.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent).
  • 5+ Years relevant data engineering, data analytics, computer science, or business intelligence industry experience.
  • Experience leveraging tools for ETL and data wrangling.
  • Experience programming statistical & data science languages (e.g., Excel VBA, SQL, Python, R).
  • Experience using modern visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics (e.g., Statistical modeling, machine learning, text analytics) and big data environments.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing tools on any major cloud platform (preferred).
  • Completion or progress towards certifications such as FRM or CFA (preferred).
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, AWS, Talend, or Snowpark (preferred).
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance requirements in the banking industry (preferred).
