About the Role

This senior leadership position in the editorial team is responsible for setting the editorial tone, vision, and direction for a key motorsport client. The Editorial Director will lead the team to deliver content that fuels F1 fandoms and shapes client presence in culture. Reporting to the Head of Editorial, this role holds ultimate responsibility for content quality, account performance, team development, and client relationship strength. The ideal candidate possesses a long-term vision for F1 culture and can think at the speed of a race weekend, using fan insights to influence client CMOs.

Responsibilities

  • Set the editorial vision and strategy for key motorsport clients, shaping their social media presence.
  • Produce sports entertainment content that fuels fandoms and shapes sports culture.
  • Own all content plans and editorial direction, ensuring consistency, creative excellence, and community impact.
  • Lead live social activation and content capture across race weekends, making real-time decisions to create memorable content.
  • Utilize performance data to iterate work and guide editorial decisions.
  • Take ownership of editorial responses for new business pitches, supporting client growth and acquisition.
  • Line manage, mentor, and develop the team, fostering an environment for career-best work.
  • Lead at a senior level, presenting to CMOs and global brand directors.
  • Build strong relationships with platform teams to gain early access to features and maintain preferred partner status.
  • Create all external and internal editorial output, including client presentations, creative briefs, insights reports, and QBRs.
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Client Services to identify upsell opportunities and deliver on business needs.
  • Encourage the team to innovate, challenge the status quo, and continuously improve.

Requirements

  • Significant agency or similar senior-level experience.
  • Experience working with clients and leading teams.
  • Understanding of motorsport, the sports business, team dynamics, and engagement drivers in F1 and motorsport culture.
  • Proven people leader with experience managing teams and developing talent.
  • Mastery of the content process from concept to publication and community engagement.
  • Belief in creating impactful work and effective creative outputs.
  • Passion for sustainability, DE&I, and women's sport.
  • Natural collaborator with clear communication skills across clients, teams, and disciplines.
  • Proactive, positive, and self-motivated, thriving in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to champion editorial services, connect them to client needs, and grow relationships.
  • Eagerness to learn, staying updated on new technologies, copy styles, trends, and best practices.
