About the Role

The Client Service Relationship Manager supports client engagement and fundraising for the Oaktree product suite in Japan. This role delivers an exceptional client experience by coordinating communication, onboarding, reporting, and diligence activities for Japanese institutional clients. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, global environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail, professionalism, and cultural fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Relationship Managers to manage client relationships and deliver exceptional client services to institutional investors and third-party advisors in Japan.
  • Serve as a trusted, responsive point of contact for daily client needs and inquiries, providing timely and accurate responses.
  • Monitor client activity to identify opportunities for deeper engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Build strong relationships with operational and investment teams to provide tailored service and highlight Brookfield's capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for client issues, ensuring swift resolution with Relationship Managers and internal teams.
  • Organize and lead client review, due diligence meetings, and investor conferences, managing preparation and deliverables.
  • Oversee the end-to-end client onboarding process, coordinating documentation, reporting, communication, and digital access.
  • Collaborate with Client Services Relationship Managers and Relationship Managers on investment due diligence and sales enablement for Japanese institutional clients.
  • Understand clients' investment goals, portfolio allocations, manager line-ups, and new search activity.
  • Coordinate RFP responses, data requests, and proposal materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency with Japanese client standards.
  • Work closely with internal partners (Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Operations) to maintain effective communication between Tokyo and global offices.
  • Assist with presentations and proposals for cross-strategy, multi-strategy, and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Stay informed on Japanese investors' evolving investment themes, portfolio structures, and market trends.
  • Contribute to projects that enhance client experience, improve internal processes, and reinforce Brookfield's reputation in Japan's institutional market.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience managing or supporting client relationships in financial services or investment management.
  • Superior bilingual communication skills (Japanese and English), written and verbal, preferably native in Japanese, with the ability to translate technical concepts across cultures.
  • Deep understanding of Japan’s institutional credit investment landscape, including market practices, investor behaviour, and regulatory considerations.
  • Working knowledge of investment products with the ability and motivation to expand expertise in Brookfield’s offerings and operations (legal, accounting, compliance, and operational areas).
  • Proven ability to handle client interactions directly and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills; capable of managing multiple workstreams while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Demonstrate poise, confidence, and professionalism to establish relationships and engage team members to meet client needs.
  • Have excellent oral and written business communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and simply.
