About the Role

The Customer Service Officer provides essential support to residents, local businesses, and community members, managing diverse inquiries in a fast-paced environment while ensuring professional and timely customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a positive and professional representation of Council.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries, requests, and transactions across multiple service channels.
  • Provide accurate information and efficiently resolve or escalate customer issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Manage a diverse range of enquiries in a fast-paced environment, including complex and challenging customer interactions.
  • Promote high standards of courtesy, professionalism, and customer satisfaction in all customer engagements.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Council business units to support seamless service delivery.

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Customer Contact or equivalent Customer Service experience
  • Experience in a customer service role in face to face and/or call centre environments.
  • Experience in managing customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of Local Government functions and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Canterbury-Bankstown LGA, including geography, activities and services.
  • Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit/visa with full unrestricted working rights.

Skills

  • Computer literacy
  • Proficiency in a language other than English

Salary/Compensations

  • Starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super
  • Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience
