About the Role
The Customer Service Officer provides essential support to residents, local businesses, and community members, managing diverse inquiries in a fast-paced environment while ensuring professional and timely customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a positive and professional representation of Council.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries, requests, and transactions across multiple service channels.
- Provide accurate information and efficiently resolve or escalate customer issues to the appropriate teams.
- Manage a diverse range of enquiries in a fast-paced environment, including complex and challenging customer interactions.
- Promote high standards of courtesy, professionalism, and customer satisfaction in all customer engagements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Council business units to support seamless service delivery.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Customer Contact or equivalent Customer Service experience
- Experience in a customer service role in face to face and/or call centre environments.
- Experience in managing customer relationships.
- Knowledge of Local Government functions and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Canterbury-Bankstown LGA, including geography, activities and services.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit/visa with full unrestricted working rights.
Skills
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in a language other than English

- Starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super
- Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience
