Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage flooding and hydrology projects or work packages, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and quality delivery.
  • Deliver technical flood and hydrology work, including hydrologic studies, hydraulic analysis, flood modelling, flood mapping, surface water management assessments, and report writing.
  • Undertake flood risk assessments, interpret complex model results, and provide practical recommendations for flood risk mitigation and sustainable design.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and inputs for fee proposals and tender submissions, including scopes of work and budgets.
  • Collaborate with clients, local authorities, regulatory agencies, project managers, and discipline leads to support project outcomes and smooth delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review technical work, and contribute to continuous improvement by promoting high standards, innovation, and best practice in flood modelling and risk management.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience delivering flood assessments, hydrology, and hydraulic modelling within Australian consulting environments.
  • NSW experience strongly preferred.
  • Major infrastructure project experience.
  • Capability to contribute confidently within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to step into discipline package lead responsibilities.
  • Strong experience developing and reviewing complex hydrologic and hydraulic models.
  • Sound technical understanding of hydrology assessments.
  • Application of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019.
  • Understanding of relevant regional and local procedures.
  • Clear communication of technical outcomes to clients and stakeholders.
  • Chartered status (highly regarded).
  • Understanding of flood policy and approval pathways (highly regarded).
