About the Role
The Senior Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial records and reports, complying with U.S. GAAP. This role bridges U.S. accounting operations and global consolidation, managing full-cycle accounts payable, payroll, and month-end close for the U.S. entity while supporting global financial reporting. The position collaborates with Global Finance, HR, and Operations to maintain internal controls, and supports annual audit and budgeting processes. The Senior Accountant will exercise independent judgment in reconciling complex accounts, streamlining processes, and ensuring multi-state compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of U.S. cash disbursements and receipts, ensuring accuracy, documentation, and timely processing.
- Oversee the end-to-end employee cash advance and expense reimbursement cycle, reviewing submissions for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance.
- Execute the monthly reconciliation of all corporate cards, verifying transaction validity and documentation.
- Execute semi-monthly U.S. payroll, including salary deductions, benefits coordination, and state payroll tax compliance.
- Oversee the U.S. timesheet management system, coordinating accurate project code allocation and timely submissions for cost allocation and grant reporting.
- Ensure timely U.S. month-end close by preparing and reviewing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account analysis.
- Support Global Controller in preparing financial statements for leadership decision-making.
- Support the completeness and accuracy of inter-entity accounts and fund transfers.
- Compile and organize supporting documentation for internal reviews and the annual external audit.
- Maintain and monitor internal control policies and procedures to reflect best practices and meet regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Global Controller in the annual and mid-year budgeting process by providing historical data and trend analysis.
- Support the administration of finance systems and contribute to application transitions for improved data flow.
- Proactively identify and implement ways to improve accounting processes and documentation workflows.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in month-end close and payroll management.
- Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.
- Proven experience supporting international field offices or working across multiple time zones and cultures (preferred).
- Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively with internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under deadline.
- High level of professional integrity and trustworthiness when handling sensitive financial and payroll data.
Skills
- Proficiency in SAGE Intacct (preferred).
- Proficiency in Google sheets (preferred).
- Experience with Insperity or similar payroll applications.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
