About the Role
This role involves working in a dynamic operational environment, addressing challenging technical and security issues related to incident response, forensics, and cyber threat hunting. Responsibilities include using cyber defense tool data to analyze events for threat mitigation, investigating and responding to cyber incidents, evaluating security controls against current threats, and providing enhancement recommendations. The role also requires cultivating partnerships with Enterprise Architecture, Technology Platform, and Application Owners for secure environment design, configuration, and operation.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for all aspects of the cyber security analysis process
- Contribute to the development and improvement of cyber security standard methodologies
- Lead analysis and actively provide feedback on team members’ work
- Lead a team on cyber analysis or incident response
- Break down complex or vague problems and approach them rationally
- Be flexible in thinking, evolving solutions with new information or ideas
- Distinguish between near-term mitigation and required future investments in decisions and recommendations
- Identify when junior resources need help and provide positive mentoring
- Help team members and suggest practice improvements
- Participate in on-call rotation (1 week per month)
- Articulate cyber security risk and translate into practical solutions for technology teams
- Possess thorough knowledge of the cyber analysis program objectives
Requirements
- Typically, 4+ years of relevant experience
- Up to date with relevant cyber security threats and countermeasures
- Commitment to quality by implementing suitable solutions
- Lead work reviews and actively participate in providing feedback on others’ work
- Perform as an expert in one or more cyber security programs
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and component and systems dependencies concepts
- Deep understanding of incident response processes and procedures
- Utilize Cyber Threat Intelligence and Cyber Security Awareness concepts to influence work
- In-depth understanding of Windows operating systems
- General knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Mac operating systems
- Knowledgeable with various security infrastructure tools such as firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, proxy servers, email controls, anonymizing technology, and SIEM
- Knowledgeable in Cyber risk management frameworks
- Knowledgeable in web application technologies
- Knowledgeable in network and systems forensics
- Ability to investigate and analyze malicious code
- Ability to work as part of a team, show initiative, and take on new tasks
- Ability to perform risk analysis and communicate that risk to others
- General understanding of AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud
- Experience in a 24x7 global enterprise (preferred)
- Experience in the Financial industry (preferred)
- SANS GIAC certifications (such as GREM, GCIH, GCFA) (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of malware analysis tools (preferred)
- Scripting experience, preferably Python and/or Powershell (preferred)
- Splunk knowledge (preferred)
- General system administration (preferred)
