About the Role

Qualcomm, a leading technology innovator, drives digital transformation for a smarter, connected future. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will create and implement ML techniques, frameworks, and tools for efficient discovery and utilization of state-of-the-art ML solutions across various technology verticals. Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance mobile, edge, auto, and IoT products through ML hardware and software.

Responsibilities

Apply Machine Learning knowledge to extend training/runtime frameworks and model efficiency software tools with new features and optimizations.
Model, architect, and develop machine learning hardware for inference or training solutions.
Develop optimized software for AI models deployed on hardware, including machine learning kernels, compiler tools, or model efficiency tools, collaborating on joint design and development.
Assist in developing and applying machine learning techniques into products and AI solutions.
Develop, adapt, or prototype complex machine learning algorithms, models, or frameworks aligned with product proposals or roadmaps.
Conduct complex experiments to train and evaluate machine learning models and software independently.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Make decisions impacting work beyond the immediate group.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including negotiation and influence.
Influence key organizational decisions, consulting with senior leadership.
Plan, problem-solve, and prioritize multi-step tasks effectively.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field with 2+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field with 1+ year of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
2+ years of experience with Machine Learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Caffe, Caffe 2, PyTorch, Keras).
2+ years of experience in embedded system development and optimization with application to a specific problem domain in ML (e.g., NLP, multi-media).
2+ years of experience with one or more programming language suitable for machine learning (e.g., Python, R, C, C++).
2+ years of experience using statistics and probability (e.g., conditional probability, Bayes rule).
2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
1+ year of experience with low-level interactions between operating systems (e.g., Linux, Android, QNX) and Hardware.
1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership.
