About the Role
Join us in San Francisco as a Design Engineer, where you will own the product surface end-to-end, from concept to pixel-perfect production code. You will elevate Circleback's design to an elite level, focusing on how software looks and feels.
Responsibilities
- Own design and frontend implementation across web (React, Next.js), desktop (Electron, Swift), and mobile (React Native).
- Understand customer problems deeply and develop elegant solutions.
- Craft engaging interactions, animations, and transitions for a fast and lively product experience.
- Build and evolve the design system, including components, patterns, and tokens, to scale quality.
- Address intricate details such as loading states, empty states, error states, keyboard shortcuts, hover treatments, and drag interactions.
- Rapidly iterate on experiments for onboarding, activation, and education.
- Collaborate directly with engineers and founders on product direction.
- Prototype new ideas quickly in code.
Requirements
- Possess a background as a designer who codes or an engineer with exceptional design taste.
- Ability to take an idea from sketch to shipped product independently.
- Demonstrated passion for building things.
- Portfolio or shipped work showcasing previous experience.
- Unreasonable attention to craft and detail.
- Fast and pragmatic approach to shipping great products.
- Interest in building powerful tools without compromising simplicity.
- Ability to consider a broad range of customer perspectives.
- Excitement about AI as a tool in product design and workflow.
- Experience using AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code and having opinions on AI in product interfaces.
