About the Role

Senior Copywriters at AKQA are essential for strategy, conception, and writing of ideas, products, and services, delivering projects from brief to end user. This freelance role supports a financial services client, focusing on transformative digital product work that impacts millions. This meaningful engagement requires strong writing and sharp conceptual thinking, with a direct impact on real people at pivotal moments. The role calls for someone who embraces AI as a creative collaborator, using it to accelerate and elevate output while applying editorial judgment and human sensibility. This is a freelance role running from June 15 through December 23, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Craft exceptional copy for digital products and services, including UX content, interface writing, headlines, and long-form content for web and mobile.
  • Apply strategic, conceptual, and copywriting skills to deliver purposeful and resonant work.
  • Develop compelling copy that is clear, human, and appropriate for a highly regulated financial services context without sacrificing creativity or craft.
  • Write and organize copy at the component level, understanding how copy lives inside CMS-driven page structures.
  • Apply or develop familiarity with AEO and GEO writing principles, crafting content optimized for discoverability across AI-driven search and answer engines.
  • Contribute to content operations deliverables beyond copy output, including content governance guidelines, workflow documentation, editorial frameworks, and agent prompts and playbooks.
  • Collaborate closely with design, UX, strategy, and product teams to ensure copy and experience work in concert, with hands-on work directly within Figma.
  • Work within sprint-based delivery cadences, committing to and meeting copy milestones with discipline and velocity in an agile product development environment.
  • Engage directly with client stakeholders professionally and collaboratively, including navigating review cycles involving brand, legal, and compliance partners.
  • Approach every brief with curiosity and a desire to find the most distinctive and effective solution.
  • Rigorously proofread and quality-check all work before delivery.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience writing copy for digital products and services, with a compelling portfolio demonstrating range, craft, and conceptual thinking.
  • An AI-forward working style, using AI tools as a creative collaborator to generate, refine, and accelerate work, with strong taste and judgment.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or another regulated industry is strongly preferred, understanding compliance and writing legally sound, human copy.
  • A portfolio reflecting audience-centric thinking, with work organized around life moments, goals, and user needs.
  • A systems thinker with contributions to content templates, governance documentation, or editorial process design, understanding content operations at scale.
  • Experience writing across UX content, interface copy, campaign concepting, and long-form digital content.
  • Strong grasp of tone and the ability to adapt voice appropriately across audiences and contexts.
  • Proficiency in Figma is required, comfortable working directly within design files as part of the copy and content workflow.
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Comfortable committing to sprint timelines and delivering with consistency in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Collaborative, open to feedback, and motivated by producing work that genuinely serves users.
  • A drive to push boundaries and craft the best ideas of their kind.
