About the Role
The Nurse Aide in Training program offers online and on-the-floor training. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities under the direction of Charge Nurses, providing comfort, safety, and personal care. An introductory period as a Hospitality Aide helps ensure suitability for the Certified Nurse Aide role and provides understanding of resident care responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting potential accident or injury situations.
- Carry out duties in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
- Assist residents with daily requirements such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing food intake, hair and nail care, moving, lifting, and transferring.
- Utilize and log care provided into the Electronic Medical Records system.
- Measure and record vital signs.
- Observe and report resident symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
- Walk with ambulatory residents or push them in wheelchairs as required.
- Safely perform movements including pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting over 50 pounds.
- Answer call lights promptly, addressing resident needs or seeking assistance from nursing staff.
- Provide good customer service with tactful and appropriate communication in sensitive situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.
- Answer call lights as a Hospitality Aide.
- Make beds and assist with maintaining resident rooms as a Hospitality Aide.
- Pass water and support resident comfort as a Hospitality Aide.
- Pass trays in the dining hall as a Hospitality Aide.
- Assist staff with basic non-certification required resident needs as a Hospitality Aide.
Requirements
- Experience as a caregiver is preferred.
- Successful completion of a minimum two-week introductory Hospitality Aide period.
- Demonstration of reliability, professionalism, and compassion for residents.
