About the Role

This high-visibility individual contributor role focuses on transportation economics, supply chain strategy, and quantitative modeling. The Analyst will shape network design, carrier strategy, and cost structure by identifying cost-saving and optimization opportunities. Analysis will inform senior leadership decisions on carrier RFPs, zone skip expansion, FC location strategy, and product pricing, partnering with carrier ops, supply chain, data science, and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own lane analysis and zone skip strategy, including margin modeling, utilization thresholds, and new lane identification.
  • Drive cross-functional execution by translating simulations into project plans and scaling analytical tools into platform features.
  • Build cost models and simulations to forecast financial and service impacts of network changes.
  • Conduct shipment and transportation cost analysis to identify and quantify cost recovery opportunities.
  • Support carrier RFP and network strategy through rate card modeling, benchmarking, and analytical case building for contract negotiations.
  • Conduct supply chain analysis, including inbound flow modeling, FC throughput, capacity analysis, and demand-driven network planning.
  • Support network and location analysis for fulfillment and sort center placement, injection point optimization, and cost impact evaluation.
  • Build reporting and business intelligence dashboards for carrier operations and transportation leadership.
  • Drive cross-functional transportation initiatives as a project lead, managing scope, stakeholders, and workstreams.
  • Produce competitive and strategic analysis on Flexport's transportation network and product compared to the market.
  • Act as a technical and domain mentor, scaling team capabilities in SQL, data modeling, AI usage, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in supply chain analytics, transportation strategy, network design, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including building financial models, running scenario analysis, and designing simulations.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience querying large operational datasets.
  • Strong proficiency with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, PowerBI).
  • Experience with transportation or supply chain economics (e.g., shipping cost structures, carrier rate cards, zone-based pricing, network cost modeling).
  • Solid understanding of supply chain or network economics (e.g., freight procurement frameworks, carrier bid structures, data-driven RFP evaluation models).
  • Track record of translating complex, multi-source data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Strong project management instincts, capable of owning analytical initiatives end-to-end.
  • Excellent communication skills to present nuanced quantitative analysis to senior audiences.
  • Experience working in highly ambiguous operational environments, making data-driven recommendations with fragmented data.
