About the Role

Lead the second-line risk assurance function, providing independent assurance on control effectiveness and risk management processes. Design and deliver a risk-based assurance program, including controls assurance and thematic reviews. Provide leadership, insights, and constructive challenge to Executive forums to ensure effective risk management and control environments aligned with the company's Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement. Collaborate with Governance, Enablement, and Operational Risk teams to translate assurance outcomes into improvements, supporting the Three Lines model and enhancing risk maturity.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver an annual risk-based assurance plan for key processes and control environments
Lead controls assurance reviews, thematic deep dives, and second-line assurance activities
Assess control design and operating effectiveness, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities
Provide clear, practical assurance insights to Executive forums
Identify emerging risks, control weaknesses, and key themes through assurance activities
Validate remediation actions and oversee issue closure for effectiveness and sustainability
Ensure assurance outcomes are accurately reflected in the Governance, Risk, and Compliance system, aligning with risk reporting and profiles
Lead continuous improvement of assurance methodology, processes, and tools
Utilize data, analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance assurance insights and identify trends
Build and develop a high-performing assurance team

Requirements

Senior risk or assurance professional with strong experience in controls assurance, internal audit, or risk management
Ability to provide independent challenge and deliver insights that improve business outcomes
Possess sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and confident leadership
Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and translating complex assurance outcomes into clear actions
Extensive experience in risk assurance, internal audit, controls assurance, or related roles within financial services
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering assurance or audit programs
Strong experience assessing control environments and risk management practices
Proven ability to provide independent challenge and influence senior stakeholders
Experience delivering clear reporting and insights to Executive-level forums
Strong written and verbal communication skills
