About the Role
The Counterparty Management & Administration Vice President will join the counterparty relationship and trading documentation team, facilitating onboarding, trading documentation, KYC, tax documentation, regulatory reporting, and trade setup management. This role is critical for enabling Portfolio Managers to trade across asset classes by ensuring all counterparty relationships, legal documentation, and regulatory/operational requirements are established. The Vice President will lead complex onboarding and counterparty management initiatives, act as a key decision-maker, and serve as an escalation point. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in trading documentation, attention to detail, and sound judgment across products and workflows under tight timelines, with global coverage. Responsibilities include strengthening onboarding processes, improving scalability, enhancing transparency and control, managing direct reports, and overseeing offshore support.
Responsibilities
- Lead and own end-to-end trading counterparty onboarding across products and account structures.
- Assess trading requirements and ensure proper documentation, legal agreements, and operational setup are in place.
- Oversee setup, negotiation, and maintenance of counterparty agreements, including ISDA, CSA, MSFTA, GMRA/MRA.
- Ensure alignment between account structure, legal documentation, regulatory requirements, and intended trading activity.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of required tax documentation and onboarding requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor ongoing investigations and resolution of withholding tax issues.
- Oversee KYC / AML / Customer Due Diligence requirements and related refresh processes.
- Drive execution across global teams and time zones, ensuring seamless coordination and continuity of onboarding activities.
- Drive coordination across internal teams, including Legal, Account Management, Portfolio Management, Operations, Transitions, Collateral, and Tax.
- Act as primary escalation point for complex onboarding issues, documentation gaps, and timeline risks.
- Manage counterparty engagement and ensure onboarding milestones are met.
- Manage and develop direct reports, including prioritization, quality control, and oversight of day-to-day execution.
- Oversee offshore and outsourced resources, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of services.
- Own and maintain counterparty data and onboarding records across internal and third-party systems.
- Ensure strong data quality, transparency, and control standards.
- Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvement initiatives focused on automation and workflow enhancements.
- Support and/or lead ad-hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives related to onboarding, trading readiness, and operational process improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience at an asset manager, investment bank, or investment advisor.
- Experience in counterparty onboarding and trading documentation at an asset manager or broker-dealer.
- Knowledge of US Patriot Act, Know-Your-Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), or Customer Due Diligence requirements (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR reporting).
- Experience with onboarding and documentation platforms (e.g., S&P Counterparty Manager, ISDA Amend, FIA Tech DOCS).
- Strong knowledge of derivatives, financing, or trading transactions to identify required documentation, collateral terms, and clearing arrangements.
- Deep knowledge of trading agreements, including ISDA Master Agreement, Credit Support Annex, MRA/GMRA, MSFTA, Prime Brokerage documentation, and Clearing agreements.
- Experience onboarding counterparties across multiple regions, understanding local market conventions, documentation standards, and operational nuances.
- Experience supporting onboarding or operational workflows involving tax documentation and coordination with tax stakeholders.
- Prior people management experience, including direct oversight, performance management, and team development.
- Experience with MS suite applications, including Excel, SmartSheets, or similar database systems and Copilot.
