About the Role

The Associate Client Director supports the Client Director in managing team workflow, guiding campaign response, and ensuring seamless internal team integration to deliver effective, inclusive, and innovative communications plans. This role shares responsibility for team output quality, champions attention to detail, and fosters a supportive, growth-oriented environment. The Associate Client Director actively participates in training and development, builds strong client relationships, particularly at the Marketing Manager level, and encourages collaboration across digital and mainstream media. Capacity permitting, they may also contribute to new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of media initiatives to meet client objectives within agreed timeframes.
  • Identify opportunities to support clients’ broader business goals beyond immediate briefs, such as training sessions, industry updates, or innovation showcases.
  • Advocate for Spark and Publicis services, including SEO, SEM, Social, and APEX, when relevant.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of media activity across campaigns, ensuring alignment with client strategy and collaboration with activation teams.
  • Support and guide the team in developing media concepts, plans, and implementation approaches.
  • Ensure planning ideas are carried through activation or identify suitable alternatives with teams.
  • Maintain quality control processes and ensure deadlines are met, coordinating early with internal teams for major presentations.
  • Communicate issues promptly and constructively with internal teams and clients.
  • Contribute to weekly WIP meetings and provide top-line updates for Director-level WIPs.
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate the team to work collectively toward client goals.
  • Model Spark values and foster an inclusive, supportive team culture.
  • Delegate effectively and provide coaching for team member growth.
  • Support the Client Director in conducting bi-annual reviews.
  • Contribute to training plans for Coordinators and Planning Executives, and mentor the Client Manager.
  • Monitor, forecast, and re-forecast client financials across the assigned portfolio.
  • Highlight changes like budget shifts or campaign adjustments in weekly Director WIPs.
  • Understand each client’s financial requirements, including financial year, credit insurance, and commission structure.
  • Understand contractual obligations and KPIs linked to campaign performance, such as bonus pools.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the media landscape, tools, and industry trends.
  • Solid financial management skills and commercial awareness.
  • Broad media knowledge across digital and mainstream channels.
  • Passionate about media, advertising, and emerging technologies.
  • Focused on delivering strong outcomes for clients and the agency.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Accountable and supportive, holding self and team to high standards.
  • Builds respectful, professional relationships with media partners.
  • Inclusive leader who enjoys motivating and developing others.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Skills

  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Experience Level

  • 6–8 years of relevant experience

Education Level

  • Tertiary qualifications preferred but not essential
  • Equivalent experience valued
