About the Role
The Associate Credit Officer is integral to Credit Administration, supporting Middle Market lines of business and driving Texas Capital Bank's strategic vision. This role maximizes portfolio performance, oversees Portfolio Managers, monitors portfolio quality, and recommends credit facility adjustments. The officer ensures efficient follow-up, spearheads best-in-class customer service processes, and acts as an internal consultant and liaison between Credit and the Line of Business.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all due diligence and background evaluation is complete before credit approval.
- Administer corporate loan policies, programs, objectives, and goals effectively.
- Own post-approval modifications to ensure accurate credit exposure reporting.
- Oversee and analyze macroeconomic conditions, industry trends, and lending practice changes.
- Own portfolio reporting and analytics, including grade-migration, past-dues, exceptions, and coming-due maturities.
- Oversee credit-related responsibilities for Credit Risk Analysts and Associates, including financial statement spreading and underwriting model validation.
- Own all credit approvals (new customers, modifications, renewals, increases, risk assessments).
- Identify key risks and issues pertinent to each credit request, including potential mitigants.
- Lead and/or support key initiatives to improve credit solution delivery for clients and prospects.
- Assure the integrity of individual approved credits and the assigned portfolio.
- Responsible for risk rating assessment and periodic relationship reviews.
- Partner with Relationship Manager in credit agreement review and negotiation.
- Validate covenant compliance and covenant management, when applicable.
- Direct and manage portfolio review, when applicable.
- Work with and mentor the underwriting team.
- Own policy exception identification.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities.
- Assess risk ratings.
- Partner with Special Assets Group for credit requests as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten years of experience in a credit-related role.
- High level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures, and objectives effectively.
- Ability to cultivate working relationships with bankers and clients.
- High level of analytical skill to assess and manage areas of responsibility.
- Ability to determine credit risk and make final approval decisions.
- Understanding of all Bank products and services.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial loans, principles, policies, and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of financial statement analysis and Petroleum Engineering evaluations.
- Knowledge of current lending laws and regulations.
