About the Role

The Surface Water Division of AECOM seeks a leader for the Texas Water Resources Group, specializing in modeling, floodplain analysis, resilience planning, stormwater management, dam safety, ecosystem and stream restoration, and civil design for flood management projects. This role requires a recognized expert in Hydrologic & Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and engineering design, with experience leading teams. The individual will serve as an innovative technical leader, guiding project delivery, providing oversight, and driving strategic growth for complex projects serving local, state, and federal clients across Texas and the Gulf Coast region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on flood and stormwater projects as a technical leader
  • Lead major pursuits for business development to secure new work
  • Maintain and grow strong client relationships to position AECOM for future opportunities
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams to support successful project delivery
  • Serve as a thought leader across the Texas water resources industry
  • Promote collaboration and professional growth, aligning with AECOM’s culture and values
  • Support coordination across Texas and the Gulf Coast region, collaborating with other AECOM offices nationally
  • Partner with regional leadership on strategic initiatives, proposal development, and client outreach

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Excellent understanding of the Texas market and state agencies
  • Ability to support marketing efforts in pursuing work
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • 15+ years of related experience
  • Experience or interest in business operations and internal finance
  • Expertise in H&H software and modeling
  • Strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills who effectively works with and supports team members
  • Public presentation experience
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Texas Water Development Board (TWDB)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Texas General Land Office (GLO)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
  • Cultivated strong client relationships and delivery experience working on projects for local municipalities throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast region
