Responsibilities
- Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.
- Provide healthcare services, including applying x-ray energy for diagnosis or treatment of patients across all age groups.
- Perform and analyze patient x-rays, reporting results to medical providers.
- Provide administrative support for efficient UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care Center operations.
- Perform x-ray services for patients from newborn to elderly under clinical provider direction.
- Ensure correct patient positioning and protection during x-ray use.
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients for examination, including verifying information, recording medical history, and confirming visit purpose.
- Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature) and escalate critical cases to providers.
- Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to providers.
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care.
- Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment.
- Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets.
- Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine optimal procedures or views for accurate diagnoses and treatment.
- Support clinic operations to ensure smooth center functioning.
- Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering questions.
- Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
- Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
- Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure.
- Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems or logbooks.
- Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program
- Experience in a clinical setting (preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (if applicable by state law)
